day 24 and 25...

since i was not here yesterday i'm loading both weekend photos in one post.

today was a gorgeous day, even though it was not as warm as predicted, and i worked outside but by the time i remembered to take my shot for today, i had come in and was relaxing with a drink and just didn't feel like going back out again, so i took these feathers with all the perfect colors with the sunshine coming through the window on them. check out ruth's leaves here.

such a rainy yucky day yesterday, just great for cropping but not for going for a walk to take photos so the japanese maple with the droplets of water was taken right at julie's doorway. can't wait to see what ruth posts since we were snapping at the same time at some of the same things! ruth and i both used our japanese maple shots but they couldn't be more different!

day 23...

i helped reg finish up closing the pool this morninga nd when we were done, i grabbed my camera and took this shot with the sun shining on what's left of my brown-eyed susans. it has quite a different look than the photo i took on day one of this challenge eh or from my header for that matter! ruth and i both went yellow today.

day 22...

since it is a wet and cold day, and i have been out every day this week, i did not step one foot outside, so today's photo is an indoor one. and since i am getting ready for a weekend crop and had all this glorious orange out on my scrap table, i figured it would be a good choice! ruth went with some yellow peppers today.

day 21...

one of these days i'm going to have to start taking indoor shots, because there just isn't much left outdoors that looks good except for the leaves! i'm surprised that i'm the first to take a shot of apples in this apple picking season. the problem this year was that we didn't go apple picking, so these apples are in our apple tree in the backyard, the only thing is that i bought them at fruiterie 440, bet you can't tell that though eh! hihihi!!! ;) ruth went orange again today.

day 20...

oh so many photos to choose from today!!! i took a walk with my sister-in-law along the river under the champlain bridge after lunch and got some really beautiful colorful shots and even some canada geese, but they were not orange, yellow, green or red, so i chose this one of those wild things that grow along the highways everywhere! check out ruth's pumpkin top!

day 19...

i had quite a busy day today, but i went out in between jobs this morning (cleaning windows, etc.) and took this completely set up shot. yesterday when i went on a walk late in the afternoon, i kept finding all these beautifully colored leaves and decided to use them for today's shot, so i stuck them under a mat on the back gallery so they would not blow away and layed them out from green to yellowish! ruth went with a frosty green today!

day 18...

well it's leaf raking time again, since all our neighbor's maple tree leaves seem to fall in our backyard, so what better photo to take, our new ORANGE rake! ruth did yellow today!

day 17...

it's getting colder outside and there is not much left out in the garden that is still alive but my sedum, which last until the snow covers them up! ruth's moss is here!

day 16...

baby, it's cold outside! we have a vine weed growing in the back of our cabana every year which reg wants to get rid of, but i find that it's very pretty, because it gives some pretty mauve/white flowers in summer and there are these berries in fall which i figured i better use as my photo now before they get hit by the frost. this photo was taken from the top of our fence, me balancing on the stacked firewood, since the vine has creeped through to the neighbor's side, oh oh! ;)

day 15...

another cold day, but the sun is out so it feels better, i was getting depressed with the rain and grey skies all the time! this is a photo of a hosta leaf that is going yellow with a hole in it from the hail storm we had in the summer. i used to cut them down before they turned color, but reg likes them when they turn yellow, so by the time i cut them now, they are practically mushy, yucky and cold! you will see ruth's here.

day 14...

see ruth's frosty leaf here! my photo today is also a leaf, and it is a leaf from my day lily plant that gave us that late flower last friday.

day 13...

well i didn't really make any effort today for my shot, another rainy, cold, damp day! i opened the front door and took 2 shots of my chrysanthemums that had been blown around on the weekend so that all the flowers were facing away from me. snap, snap and here it is, no fuss! ruth took some cute little pumpkins today.

day 12...

since we had a good frost last night (and a bit of snow yesterday afternoon, grrr...), i figured i better take these ornamental red peppers i have in a pot in the back before they wrinkle up and die, since they are so nice and red! ruth's today was a huge maple leaf!

day 11...

remember that i was torn the other day between a drenched orange daisy type flower over at lisa's and my day lily on friday and i went with my day lily, because it would be dead the next day, which it was, well i had another chance today at the orange daisy type chrysanthemum, because i had to go over and let the cats in the house since the family was off helping to pick the produce at a farm and they got out while they were packing the car. so here it is and i'm glad i waited because it is much prettier with the sunshine instead of the rain. this will be ruth's once she has uploaded it. check out ruth's photo today here!

day 10...

ah, finally a day with some sunshine! i went out and took some photos this morning and then the same ones again this afternoon in the sunshine, but i am going to use the one from this morning, since the colors are much richer! here are some leaves on my neighbor's tree before they turn brown and fall off! and my day lily from yesterday that was way late in the season, dead today! you can check out ruth's extraordinary photo here.

day 9...

what a wet and dreary day, but i had some fun going with elki and zoe this morning to decide on what costume they will wear on halloween. we were heading for fabricville, but there was a halloween store right beside it, so we went in there first just to see what there was and for ideas and i ended up with a costume for elki and an idea for zoe with elki's last year's costume. 2 down, 1 to go, because on monday when justin comes over, we will be heading back over there and hopefully he decides as quickly!

now to my photo for today, i was torn between a beautiful soaked orange daisy over at lisa's house and one of my last day lilies and the only reason i'm using the day lily is because there is no tomorrow for it, it will be dead and we won't see them until next summer. check out ruth's photo!

day 8...

eeny, meeny, minie, moe!!! omg, this morning was a wonderful morning in the yard, i took 51 photos of all different things that would be perfect for my photo-a-day, and i had a hard time picking just one, but since i've been trying all summer to get a decent photo of a chickadee, i finally decided on this one! you can see ruth's photo here!

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

day 7...

i had a cherry tomato plant last year that dropped seeds and a plant grew this year, but it has only given me 1 ripe tomato so far and this is one that i picked the other day that was not quite ripe. i put it on my window sill and it was right next to an orange candle, perfect for my shot! ruth took a school bus today with some pretty foliage in the background!

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

day 6...

it's finally pumpkin soup time today! and i read in my bird book this morning that the birds love the insides of a pumpkin, so i just put this pan of it out for them and figured it would make a good photo of the day since it's so nice and orange! check out ruth's beebalm photo!

day 5...

it looks like this month will be full of mostly flowers and leaves and today's is no exception. i took many shots of these tiny little dying pom pom like flowers in one of my pots in the backyard and there were some better ones than this one, but since this is october, i loved that little dead head in the background that looks like a skull! ruth's leaves are here!
